why do women always think that, even after a man has treated them like crap, they might still get together and have a happy ending? And that the man will change?

We can't help it. We are eternal optimists.
Besides, love is blind. You only see, and hear what you want to.
You're partial when you're in love.
Now I'm not sure it's a question of women; maybe we speak more willingly about our feelings and share our hopes with our friends and family, which guys do less, but they are not immune against becoming broken hearted.

Rephrase your question. Hope and love make the world go round.
As for the second part, women are, no surprise to you, more emotional than men. We tend to hang to things for long periods of time, ex bf's included. It's not necessarily that we want you to change, we just want you to change your mind.

I think because we get so involved in this person and there are things about the person that keep us interested. I am actually in this situation right now. He gives me just enough to keep me interested but not enough to be in an actual realtionship. In my case this has been going on for 6 months and I am just in this cycle and can't get out of it. its so depressing!
