Hm, I'm not sure if this is the rule everywhere, but in my area you have to weigh 110 lbs and be at least 17 years old.

If you have the go-ahead, make sure you have a good meal a few hours beforehand and drink gatorade. Afterward, drink a lot of fluids and get something carb-loaded to eat - crackers, cookies, etc.

um oranges and water are what u DONT want to do. U need sugar by eating cookies and drinking juice or pop after. also, u have to typically be 18, unless u have a parent with u. And you have to weigh at least 110 lbs and have a certain level of iron in ur system, which they check for with a finger prick before u can give. i have given blood 4 times now, so im pretty much the expert! oh, and u cant have had surgery, piercings, tattoos, or gone to another country in the last year. good luck, ur doing an AWESOME Thing.

Avoid alchohol totally before and after the session.

Having a meal is ok but don't eat anything strongly aromatic for the sake of the people who will be close to you at the session. You'll be offered a cup of tea and a biscuit afterwards. Take them, they'll perk you up.

You may feel a little prick when The Catheter is inserted but don't worry, we're all embarrased sometimes.

If it's your first time you may feel a little faint after but a lie down for a short time helps.

Congratulations and may you be a donor for many decades, well done.

As a first timer, when you arrive at the donor center, you will be required to complete a questionnaire and answer more questions from the nurse. They will also prick your fingertip for a sample of blood. These methods will help them determine if you meet the requirements to donate. I only suggest you drink some water, apple juice or orange juice prior to the donation. After you are complete, they will provide cookies and more juice.

Acts 15:
Hence my decision is not to trouble those from the nations who are turning to God, 20 but to write them to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.
Mabe research the dangers of taking blood even from doctors point of view. In your sincere attempt to try to help for the good of mankind did you ever wonder what your Creator, the one who gave it to you in the first place, thinks about the use of blood?
2 tim 3:16
"All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work".
He has left us with some important information so we can live in this system of things without having to figure stuff out on our own.
Your decision to help may have consquences that go way deeper than you have imagined. Research answers and compare the truth will be known.

No, they will ask to to fill out a brief medical history, take some vital signs, I think there is a minimum weight you must be. After, they should give you some cookies and juice to boost your blood sugar or something, but they will take care of everything. Don't worry, after this you will be experienced and won't have anything to worry about.

Didnt know you could donate Blood when your only 16 ? If you can give Blood you fill out a form. It asks you if you are suffering from certain diseases or conditions like High blood presure or are you taking any medication . They take a sample anyway and test it and they also take your blood presure anyway.. If its high they wont take it..

Always drink plenty of fluid for hydration and if your iron is low or tends to be low eat things like beans, peanut butter. Also, make sure you have eaten something about 1-1 1/2 hrs prior to donating.

before, you should eat foods high in iron and protein, such as peanuts, or red meat, then after eat and drink anything that has iron or sugar to replenish yourself....and giving blood is more fun than it is scary, i'm almost 17 and gave blood for the first time in November, just relax, and enjoy the fact that you're helping someone else who is in dire need of your help...berthol
