Everything nowadays is loaded with "high fructose corn syrup" or some other variation of fake sugar.

I am wondering if HFCS is more fattening than true cane sugar? There are many forms of refined or man-made sugars around, which ones are worse / better for you than others?

HFCS is the worst thing you can eat, and you're right- everything is loaded with it- especially "diet" products!
Sugars are found in
candy, cakes, sweets
fruits like mango, banana and watermelon (high)
bread, pasta, rice (high)
fruits like apples and grapefruit (lower)
vegetables like potatoes, corn (high)
vegetables like salad, greens (low)

One excellent all natural sweetener is called Stevia. Use it in place of sugar
