My daughter is in Kinder and we just moved from Texas to Washington and in Texas she had a full day of school since Pre-k. In washington its 2 1/2 hours only and they dont teach them nearly as much as they do in texas. She's already reading little words and they really haven't taught her anything like that here in Washington. What's ur opinion on this.

work with her at home, keep her interested in learning. luckily, she isnt in school for too long in the day so she wont get bored. but if she doesnt learn anything new she will get bored, and probably get frustrated. maybe see if you can get her up a grade level?

I live in England so I wouldn't know what the schooling systems are like in the US. I think that theres not much you can do to rectify the situation and it's a bit silly but obviously your duaghter likes school and learning, so why not make up for the not so great school hours in Washington and do some reading and writing exercises with her at home??

Also, why not make an appointment to go and visit the school and talk to the teacher about what exactly she does in the 2 1/2 hours she is there?

I hope it all goes well.

See if she's advanced enough to be put in 1st grade.
We moved to a different state, from a 1/2 school day to all day and my kids were 6 months behind all the other kids.
If she can't advance, try a private school or home schooling.

Private school. I'm sure you can find a full day kindergarten outside the public system. You can decide later if you want to return to the public school for 1st grade.

There are alot of states that only offer a few hours a day. Talk to the principal and perhaps he has suggestions.
