YES!! I know everything about this subject because i, too, had an ice addiction. The reason for the ice chips is probably because your child has low iron. It is one of the major signs. Cheerios are a great way to get a lot of iron in the system and any other foods that can probably be found in a list online! I really hope this helped!

I know that they ask all the time at doctor appointments if the child eats paint chips, and other things, ice is also on this list. I think it has something to do with anemia. You may want to contact you doctor or even a nurse hotline to consult them. It may not be anything serious, but there is always that chance. I know for a fact though that at WIC appts and/or dr appts, they ask if the child eats ice all the time. Better safe than sorry. Ask a professional.

I used to take my kids to the Health Department and we got WIC and the nutritionist used to ask a lot of questions about the foods they ate and she would ask if they ate a lot of ice cubes or chips and after a year or so of this question and always answering NO, I had to find out why they ask it and I asked and she said it is a sign of low iron and they check to make sure the kids are not anemic and that was the purpose of this question. I have since learned that it is a symptom of anemia and I do not know why, but if I were you I would have my child tested by the doctor to see what their iron level is and make sure they are not low. If their Iron is normal then I would consider this a habit, although it is not really that good for your teeth. Good Luck and it wouldnt hurt to rule out anemia.

I used to be addicted to eating ice chips. It's terrible for your teeth. Talk to his doctor to make sure there isn't a medical reason before telling him that he can't have ice chips anymore. It can also be a sign of an eating disorder. I had to stop cold turkey and I don't even put ice in my drinks anymore (chill them in the fridge). Good Luck!

I permit my three 12 months historical devour while he's hungry until dinner will probably be able inside half-hour then he has to attend. At college inspiration he eats breakfast at eight:30, lunch at eleven:30 then they have got a snack round three:00. I like that they have got them on a agenda like that. Once I opt for him up (we now have an hour trip house) so I permit him snack within the auto and at house up o half-hour earlier than dinner. On the weekends I attempt to hold him at the equal consuming agenda but when he's hungry in the end than typical I simply cross with it. He is permitted to have juice, water or milk all for the duration of the day however can't take whatever to mattress with him. ADD: I grew up continuously motivated to devour every time I desired when you consider that I have an outstanding metabolism and feature continuously been fairly chubby although I devour greater than adequate energy. As lengthy as my son's wouldn't have weight issues they are able to devour as most of the time as they prefer so long as it is healthful.

First of all, how old is your child. If teething, the coldness and rubbing on the gums is very soothing for a child who is is teething. The other answer to an older child is "habit"...think about it, like biting your nails, it's a habit and is not really done consciously. Ask your child, see what he/she says.
