I've felt that, and spiritually abandoned, and all sorts of other things, but perseverance, and fellowship and prayer has gotten me through it. Usually i come to find out the reason why it happened too.

Yup, been there too. What worked for me was giving myself a spiritual change of pace. Depending on the circumstances, I would go worship at a different mass or church for a while, do more meditation instead of reading, read more instead of meditating, etc.
As a church musician, I definately got the ministry burnout problem periodically. I would try to give myself a break (be easier on my own personal demands) and talk to colleagues at other churches for fresh ideas. Heck, I found that if I was able to take a week or two off and just go sing with a different group, I was able to come back a bit refreshed.

Yes. I have and it is not something I ever want to experience again.
I wanted nothing to do with anything remotely close to church or church related stuff. I felt overwhelmed and needed a break.
Then a friend of mine called me and asked to spend some time with me. We talked and prayed and the answer was one I will not soon forget.
Sometimes the best thing to do is just to do nothing at all. If you get too busy for God, you may not pay attention when He wants to talk to you. Then you wonder if He is listening and then bad things can start happening. Stay active in your walk but know your limits.

Could it have been around the time you were battling with your flesh? Perhaps having a "fleshy" mement when you were not just feeling the Spirit thing. Thats happened to me before. When I wanted to smoke weed instead of going to Church....I could have called it "spiritual burn out" but I know what it really was. A battle of the flesh and Spirit and the flesh was winning.

Yes I have but my problem was the church I was in. It preached the uncompromised word of God, at the same time limited and isolated itself from the rest of the church world to the point where they thought they were right and everyone else was wrong. I finally got out of the church and we are in a new one and this is helping me to be excited about the things of God again.

I'm a christian teacher of theology and I flip out and burn out every 8 months or so. It's like clock work. I just feel like there is more that I can do for God and I'm as dumb as a bag of rocks and can't understand God's plan for me. He reminds me to keep the course and straightens me. I never lose my faith but I often question God and ask for more understanding.

When Believers feel a sense of "burn out" it's because they are doing too much on their own. When God is guiding us for His purpose, he will always, always, provide us with the energy, courage, ect we need.
If you're feeling this way, now is the time to pray and ask God to show you how to completely surrender to his power and authority, and how to determine if your actions are in agreement with his plans for your life. He will answer, and remove the feeling of burn out you're experiencing.
I pray to God about EVERYTHING...from the most simple to the most complicated. I can do NOTHING without him!
