Well, when u get taller, you actually "Get Taller"!! the measurements will prove that, but about the "Slimmin' Down" part, it only happens because your body will have more space to store fat, therefore you will "seem" slimmer!!
Unless the scale says u really did lose the weight.
Like, when you have stuff in your room, then move to bigger room, your stuff won't seem as much as they used to in your old room.. somethin' like that.. :)

His weight loss probably had to do with hormones. You're 13 - you still have your baby fat. Don't sweat it. You will lose a lot of this as you go through puberty.
Getting taller doesn't make you skinnier. . .but it can appear to have that effect sometimes due to body weight shifting and his weight being spread out over a taller body.
I wouldn't recommend dieting to a 13 yr old without knowing your weight, but if you are uncomfortable, try cutting back on tv and video games and make time to go ride your bike more often, or play basketball with some friends. I would talk to your parents about it and see what they say.
Good luck, and don't worry, you'll balance out as you get older!

Hmmm...
This is one of those 'Chicken Little' things put much better by SRV: "...the sky is falling, look at the tears come crashing down", or whatever...
My daughter is a "short-****", - 5'2" - at twenty-three, she is not going to get any taller. My father was 6', and I manage 5'10" but, this doesn't answer your question. I didn't 'grow' until 15-16. Before that, I was a stunted-dwarf and have photos to prove it...
At thirteen, you should be in the middle of an identity crisis, but, jokes aside, how are you coping?
Simple answer: "Yes, it might happen that way."
Long-term thought:
"Screw this! If I don't play sport, don't get hit in dodge ball, don't climb the Eiger or El Capitan [sic], then I just might survive.

Tragic activities like this are brutal on our hearts. there is an indescribable peace. might or not that's with our expensive 'Belle.

Yes, when teenage boys have a growth spurt like that, they usually appear thinner... this is often when you loose your "baby fat". You often stay thin if you stay healthy... eating & exercising regularly. Of course, if you or your brother, eat lots of junk food you are going to gain weight the same as anyone else.
