I'm also a baptized atheist. I suspect a lot of atheists have been baptized since most grew up in a religious household.
I doubt they'll be too happy that "slackers" like us will show up along side them (not really, though, as heaven doesn't exist).
*edit* I was SUPPOSED to be confirmed into Catholicism at the rational age of 16, but surprisingly, I was rational enough to drop out. I couldn't confirm my loyalty to the church and my belief in God when I felt neither loyalty nor belief.

I'm an atheist, but I never got around to being baptised.
Though I was a "born again Christian" since age 8, in our church you had to make a separate declaration of faith in front of the congregation by getting a full immersion baptism. Most of my peers did this around age 12-14. I guess I never really felt strongly enough to take that next step. It was around that age I really started to question the beliefs of the church, though it wasn't until my early 20's that I completely renounced it and declared myself an atheist.

Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ as your savior. The baptism is to your salvation what the wedding is to your marriage. With or without the wedding your feelings and commitment to your spouse remains unchanged. The wedding is just your way of making the commitment known to everyone.
Unfortunately, like in the marriage people do not fully understand or appreciate the relationship they are entering into. Ones salvation like the marriage requires continued devotion to the spouse.
If after I marry a woman I continue to behave as an unwed man the relationship will not last. Your salvation is not dependent on the baptism, or a profession of faith. It is dependent on a repentant heart.
Without that... WE WILL NOT as you say stand together in heaven.
I challenge you to show me in scripture where it says otherwise...
I pray that you will repent and maintain a repentant life... so that we CAN share in the glory of heaven and the magnificence of His presence...
ADDED COMMENT
Can you, RuneAmok or anyone reference in the bible the "once saved always saved" concept???
Does that mean that once I am saved I can behave any way I want?

Baptism alone amounts to water on your head, not salvation. Where in the bible does it talk about confirmation? I'm not saying you won't go to heaven, but you're very mistaken about the significance of these things. And just so you know I hope you are right next me in heaven. God bless you.

I bet many of us were baptised. I don't remember being given a choice in the matter at the time.

Baptism is only symbolic; a baptized sinner is just a wet sinner. Unless you have changed your mind about God, you are not saved.
-------edit------------
For those giving me the thumbs down, I don't make up these rules, you know. If you have been to church (and you must have, since I assume that the one who baptized you was a Christian pastor or priest of some sort, otherwise your question makes no sense), then you must have heard this before, I'm sure. I was just giving an honest answer to a question.

The vast majority of christians wouldn't consider "baptism" as a factor in you getting into heaven.

Baptism is an act that symbolizes the acceptance of Jesus as saviour....
So if you bothered to read...you will be standing before him for judgement and I am sure glad I have looked at the reliability and studied the Bible and accepted Jesus as my saviour.
John 3
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
** Note verse 18... you could try buying some asbestos underwear but I hear you can't take it with you when you die.
