I would suggest Firefox. Firefox is much more stable than IE and it much more secure. Firefox tends to be updated regularly when a security hole is discovered where IE, last I checked, still had security holes that were discovered a couple of years ago.

Firefox also has an amazing amount of plug-ins for it that can extend it's usefulness. IE has some plug-ins too, but I believe Firefox has many, many more.

By the way, yes, you can have both installed. In fact, you probably should keep IE installed. Some websites wont work correctly with Firefox though it's rare. If you find one that doesn't work just fire up IE and browse it with that.

They are both good. Personally I prefer Firefox as it is a lot more secure than Internet Explorer and is also more customiseable.

However, there is nothing wrong with trying both. You can install both at the same time as they are completly different programs and will not interfear with one another.

With those options, definitely Firefox.

IE **6** and Firefox co-exist just fine on the same system; you just have to have one of them designated as the default on your computer (Windows will ask you about this when you install the second browser, whichever it is).

I can't make the same claim for IE7, though. In my experience, as often as not it breaks the computer's Internet connection. I don't know what effect it might have on Firefox, and I'm not eager to find out.

I think both of them are good,
Firefox is a free software and you can download it. also you can download IE. IE is about 15M, but Firefox is less than 6M. Installing IE needs windows validation. For some web pages Firefox has problems.
I think Firefox is secure than IE, and I prefer it. You can install both of them, but at the same time, one of them is default web browser. I have and use both of them.

Firefox is where Microsoft got the idea for tabbed browsing.
If you want the original, get Firefox.

I personally use firefox, I like it better. Doesn't shut down as much. You can have both on your computer. I have both at home and work.

Definitely Firefox. More customizable, better features, no activex to give you spyware. You can use them both if you want as well.
