Volvos are assembled in Europe. Mainly in Sweden, sometimes in Belgium, and other times in Germany. Parts for Volvos are manufactured all of the world. Ultimately, the heart of Volvo is Swedish, becuase the idea is Swedish.

Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, and Belgium. A particularly interested individual can use a VIN decoder to determine the location of the factory of origin, as it is model dependent.
The brand identity in general of the Volvo name is Swedish, and other answerers are correct in that Volvo Cars is now a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company while Volvo Trucks and Buses are not.

Sweden. When you buy a new Volvo you can make vacation arrangements with the dealership to pick up your car in Stockholm at the factory, drive it around Europe and then they ship it back to the states for you. Sounds cool to me.
