im torn on this one....
on one hand...it is supposed to at least resemble you a little bit.
on the other hand....it is a frickin cartoon

Considering my avatar (a gargoyle), yes I would take it as a compliment.
I had one of the cartoon avatars, but lacked the patience to make a really interesting one, and I like gargoyles... but those folks who spent a lot of time on theirs... well, a compliment is a compliment.

yah, it's just a frickin' cartoon but they could be complimenting your creativity. mine looks nothin' like me.
but then, on that stupid game second life people are marrying their avatars, or virtual representatives or whatever and these people sometimes don't even ever get to meet each other

I made mine to resemble me & it actually does! So yeah Id take it as a compliment,even if it doesnt look like you,youre the one who made it,so yes it is a compliment.

yeah i take it as a compliment, for how talented I am to have come up with it.lol. but not too many people compliment on mine! I think it's the hat...lol that resembles something in me life!

Take whatever compliments you can while you can..eventually someone will tell you they hate your avatar and you can balance that negative comment with poistive one you received therefore maintaining the equilibrium of your self esteem..or at least thats what I heard..
