I am stationed in Iraq right now. The computer I am on right now has a military smartfilter on it that doesn't allow myspace. We do have some computers around the base that are on an army network that do allow you to get on myspace and pretty much do anything. It also depends on where you are stationed at every base is different but most do provide some sort of internet access.

My husband was there for a year. At first, he was able to use Myspace, but then some people in his squadron were getting into some trouble with Myspace, so they revoked the Myspace privleges, which was a shame...
Sometimes they have to wait in line to use the computer or phone, and sometimes they get pulled off it at a moment's notice for some duty - so if the person you are talking to suddenly disappears without saying anything, don't assume they are being rude or ignoring you. If there is a line of people waiting to use a computer, they usually have a time limit too. My hubby got 30 minutes at a time.

It depends on where you are. Some areas downrange myspace is blocked on the military servers. You still can send and receive emails and phone calls. Iraq has cell phones, the military has internet. If you are in an area that has those services, you can use them. Many servicemembers take their laptops with them and use them a lot.

Yes you can. My brother is currently in Iraq and I talk to him almost every day on Myspace. He has his own laptop so I don't know if that makes a difference. But it is great to get to hear from him. It gives my whole family peace of mind. He also sends us cool pictures from over there of himself and the landscape.

my step brother was over there for 2 years, and 2 years before that in afganistan. he was able to email us every 2 weeks or so, but he wasnt allowed to say where they were, or where they were going, just where they had been, so i dont think they would be able to myspace because i would think sites like that would be blocked for safety reasons. you dont want to accidently give away info ya know?
