It probably doesnt melt well due to high milk solids.
For melthing, the best chocolates are dark ones with a high % of cocoa solids.
As people have said before, make sure the water is not touching the bottom of the bowl which you are melting in!

you can.
get a saucepan and put about 1cm water in the bottom. Get a heatproof bowl (not plastic) and place on top of the saucepan - the bowl should not touch the water. The bowl must also be completely dry inside - even a small amount of water will wreck your chocolate. Crumble your flake into the bowl. Place the saucepan on a gentle heat. The water will eventually start to simmer. you shouldn't let it boil too rapidly. Keep stirring the chocolate, it will eventually melt.

I HAVE NO IDEA!! I'm glad someone else had the same problem...I was getting quite distraught when I couldn't melt one the other day thinking ...was I that hopeless in the kitchen?!

i think it has allready been melted thats how it got it's shape so maybe you can't melt flake more than once. or you could try the microwave or melting it by hand. (eg-lighter or your hand or a match.)

if you melt it with milk into a fondue it works but its a starnge chocolate that doesnt act like normal chocolate
