I mean, the guy couldnt have been with them 24/7 he had a job...so why didn't the boy yell for help or get smart after so long and figure a way to leave?!

when dangerous situation happen to people, especially youth, they are more than likely extremely terrified!
i am pretty sure he knew that there were chances when he could have escaped, but think of it this way, if the kidnapper had the guts to take a child away from their family in the first place, who knows what else they are capable of doing?
just because the kidnapper had a job, doesn't meant that he never threatened him in a way that would scare even an adult.
just think of how vulnerable you were when you were younger.
just to show you what fear can do to people, the FBI estimates that only 37% of all rape incidents are reported to the police.
take a look at this, a girl was kidnapped for 8 years, from the age of 10 to 18:

No one really knows for sure, but he could have been brainwashed, threatened or afraid. You don't know what the kidnapper would have told the boy. He could have said "Your parents don't love you anymore" or "If you run away, I will find you and kill you." The kid was only 11 he could have convinced him of anything. He is lucky to still be alive!

Person abducted are afraid for not only themselves but the family they have been taken from--the news said that even when he was stopped by the police once for a bike incident he didn't say anything or ask for help and gave a false name--he was terrified--

If you've been following the news, the experts speculate that the kidnapper threatened him and his entire family with death, in addition to terrorizing and abusing him. Keep in mind he was only a little kid.

The kidnapper could of threatened to kill his family or told the kid that he already did.

THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION! WE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT THAT THIS MORNING. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE FIRST CHANCE HE GOT UNSUPERVISED, HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN OFF.
