Good herbals:
Passiflora tablets or lemon balm capsules (as directed on the label)
Camomile tea or rooibush tea after your main meal and about an hour before sleeping.
A calcium/magnesium supplement (500mg ca/250mg magnesium) about 2 hours before bedtime. Calcium is a sleep aid and so is magnesium. Magnesium is known as the anti-stress mineral so will certainly help with any anxiety that you have about not sleeping. You could also take a B complex vitamin once a day if stress is a problem for you as the B complex vitamins are known as the antistress vitamins.
Avoid doing anything that stimulates the brain at least an hour before going to bed. Try reading a chill-out book and/or listening to some relaxing music instead.
If there is anything worrying you that is affecting your sleep then share this with someone you feel comfortable sharing this with.
Make sure you are warm enough in bed. It is very difficult to sleep inf you have cold feet for instance.
Try to sleep at a regular time each night as irregular sleep patterns certainly can contribute to insomnia.
It happens to us all at some stage so try not to worry about it.
Hope this helps and you get a good nights sleep very soon and this is regular. Take care, relax and please do try not to worry about it.

Well in my case I was diagnosed a severe manic depressant which contributed to insomnia and addiction. I finally asked for help and was prescribed Zoloft and Trazadone. The longest I ever stayed up without drugs or alcohol was 12 days straight. If your anything like me take prescribed drugs but I am a pretty severe case.

Try taking a melatonin supplement (you can find it in any pharmacy section) 30 minutes before you go to bed. Melatonin is a substance that your brain produces naturally as a response to the sun going down, and it's what causes you to fall asleep. I work nights and have to sleep during the day, and 3-5mg of melatonin makes it a lot easier to fall asleep, and when I wake up I don't feel groggy like I do if I take a medicated sleep aid, like Benadryl or something.

When trying to fall asleep do little mind games, like going through the alphabet..beginning with A, think of a girl's name and so on.Or, imagine buying groceries..think of items beginning with A-apples,avocados,almonds,then bananas, bread, broccoli.
