Blow your hair out straight then use 4 or 5, 1" velcro rollers on the top of your head. Start at your crown, moving forward to your face. Once you have them in, spray them lightly with thermal activated hairspray. Heat the rollers up (from the inside) with a blow-dryer on med-hi heat until they are almost too hot to touch. Let them cool while you put on your makeup, etc. When you take them out, you will have beautiful volume, but no curl. My friend taught me this trick a couple years ago, and it really works! I've found that velcro rollers are kind of hard to use at first (I'm a hair clutz!) but after a few trial runs I figured it out. The trick is not to get in a hurry and put too much hair around the roller. It's worth the time and effort to learn this technique!

I would say this is best settled with a haircut - get some layers in there, and that will definetly help.
But in regards to the straight hair - if you take your time blowdrying it, and use a diffuser on the dryer and a round brush. . .you should be able to get it straight without the iron. Blow out your hair in layers instead of all at once (clip the top half on top of your head). . .if you get small frizzies try using a gloss polish.
This will take longer, but will come out nicer in the long run. Good luck

i just answered a question like this! my hair is the exact same way!! i cant figure out how to five it volume while straightening it so what i do sometimes is take a fat curling iron and curl my hair. i curl the bottom out and the top under. if you use a fat curling iron you wont have kinky curls, they will be soft and pretty and it gives your hair LOTS of volume. my friends say they like my hair bettter when i curl it so maybe you could try that

i suggest to buy some clip on extensions, the real hair type, my stylist helped me with my hair color and since my hair needs volume and she is the only one that can do it, adding extensions really helped me, and they are awesome, i get alot of compliments and people tell me how pretty my hair is, and they are 300.00 and up for real hair but its worth it, just take care of them and wash them and condition them.
