well really it depends on your colours.. and to be honest flowers always look great.. but here's some different ideas, either put them together or have them seperatley.. what ever you want:
~ pinecones
~ candles
~ gold or silver sprayed leaves (leaves alone give a bit of a wierd smell off!)
~ fruit or veg baskets - fake or real
~ mini water fountains
~ wine glass towers (only small so that the guests can still see!)
~ chocolate pyramid (think ferrrero rocher)
~ balloons
~ extravagent candles holders with candles
~ letters spelling your two names in a circle (sprayed silver or gold or theme colour)
~ ornament (glass heart shape or something)
here are some links of pictures i have found for you..

Like most others, I think pumpkins would work well. If you wanted to use a few flowers you could always drill small holes in the tops of the pumpkins and use it as a small place to stick flower stems. Also, try something with beads. There are plenty of big, cheap, earthy-colored wooden beads that you could string as garland around your pumpkins and down the table. You could also get some small wicker baskets and put leaves, gourds, squash, etc. in them. Apples also work well for fall. So if you want to make sure you don't get a Halloween effect, try apples in tall hurricane vases or something.

A friend of mine got married this last fall and her centerpieces were clear mason jars with a candle in it, and candy corns around the candle. She tied natural raffia around the top of the jar, and it looked really nice! They also scattered some fall-colored Hershey's kisses around the jars.

My sister in law used little wrought iron pumpkins she bought at Michaels and filled them with silk flowers that matched the bridesmaid dresses. They were beautiful and inexpensive. Then she scattered fall leaves all over the tables. It really was beautiful.

My daughter was married in October. Her flowers were fall colors. Lots of cala lillies, For decorations at recepetion (she didn't want tons of flowers but lots of color) we had each table decorated differently. Pumpkins, ivy, candles, wheat, flowers. Leaves were scatterd on some tables. It was beautiful. Her florist entered her setting in a contest and won it. It was beautiful.

i don't know if you already have you colors picked but maybe you could incorporate them. My aunt is a small town florist, and she of course did the flowers for my cousin's wedding, awesome center pieces with pumpkins as the vases, or put into settings with fake fall leaves, and ran strands of white lites all around. They used red, almost crimson as their color and with red roses and all different fall shades of daisies, things were very festive.

Im getting married in the fall too. You can use leaves, apples, or just get flowers that match your colors and use them. Good luck and congrats!
