No, that's not why. It has nothing at all to do with that. Its because the "Have-Nots" want what the "Have's" have.
Meaning that, when you're the most powerful, influential, and richest nations in the world, those that don't have that are going to hate you because they want it and will do anything to get it.
Its also caused by tensions that have been building for hundreds of years between nations.
Go read a history book sometime.

I think that your question pertains to more than an anti-religious approach. i think that the thing you have failed to mention is a tolerance for those of other beliefs and cultures which is related to racial discrimination, but isn't actually described as such. I don't believe that there is just a god and therefore everyone needs to make sure they choose the "right one". I think that there is something out there that does determine ones fate and that no matter what people are worshipping that their fate has been pre-determined and that no one is right or wrong in their believes even if I don't believe in the actions that they take when invoking their faith as the cause of said actions.
that being said, I have to add that I find your ignorance of globalization a little astonishing. When you look at what globalization has done to the world, you can easily see how tensions have risen. Not only do we as a global community already deal with an intolerance of things that we see as different (culture, race, sexual preference, gender) as wrong, but then in the areas that most terrorism occurs the developed countries have some form of either pressure to globalize markets in that area or they already have globalized. And one of the main problems with globalization is that the poor get even poorer. Look at Jamaica, the Phillipines, Mexico, etc. When free trade zones come in what little markets these countries have locally collapse and the people are usually around the rate of 30-50 dollars in US currency a week, which is barely enough to pay their home mortgages or rent costs when living near the free zones or in the rural countryside. Their education systems have for the most part collapsed or severely been handicapped so that their countries can give the free zones incentives to stay and therefore the cycle continues on for the next generation.

There are many root causes of Terrorism 1) Poverty , illiteracy , oppression : Naxalites are a result of this form of terrorism, where a group of people saw this as a last respite. We can provide fairer opportunities , educate people to make them capable 2) Religious Fundamentalism: This stems from political religious leaders, who wish to usurp power using religion. It generally starts with childhood schools like madrasas which teach hatred from first class. Close these schools. Haave single schools which are multicultural and have a standardised education.

I think it is lack of spiritual understanding, religious tolerance and an abundance of fear in that there is "not enough to go around". This leads to greed, arrogance and a need for control through fear. If we were all to individually change our beliefs to a more accepting, relaxed, and loving way of thinking, there would be no need for terrorism, disease, or starvation of millions in africa. It all comes down to what we believe. If we believe that everything we need will be provided for us, and have faith that it will, it will! This has been lost somewhere.

There is no single root cause of terrorism at global level. One common factor is lack of regard for others' right to a dignified life.

Amazingly you managed not to capture a single one of the myriad causes in your paragraph. A poster child for why religion and religious belief stunts the mind.

Control, domination, and in the case of some Islamic terrorists, trying to fulfill their prophecy that Islam will rule the world. No matter what excuse they use, it is always about power.
May God Bless you.

I think the root cause is abject poverty and marginalizing people.
People who have hope in the system, hope for a better life, don't blow themselves up. It's a last resort for a beaten person.

The root cause of anti-US terrorism is US terrorism.
Stop listening to the fascist media (eg. FAUX, ABC, CNN) in the US and get your news from other countries. Nearly all Americans are ignorant of what the world thinks of their country.
And if your response is, "Who cares what they think?" that's WHY you are facing terrorism in response to your own country's terrorism.
