We have the kind of crib that transitions to a toddler bed and we changed it over when she was 19 months old because I was afraid she'd climb out of the crib (she's pretty tall for her age).
The crib did not come with a toddler bed side rail, so I put pillows on the floor beneath her for awhile, but she has never had a problem falling out. We don;t even use the pillows anymore. She's 22 months old now and sleeps like a champ in there.
I'd say if your daughter is two and asking for a bed, then she is definitely ready... good luck.
P.S. Just a tip... We keep a baby gate on our daughter's bedroom door because we don't want her roaming the dark house unsupervised while we sleep.

My sister and my friend both moved their kids to toddler beds at 18 months, and it wasn't a problem. My son is 2 1/2 and still in his crib because he's not asking for a big bed and hasn't climbed out. So it all depends, but I think 2 is old enough depending on the kid.
Can you keep the crib in the room and try out the toddler bed until you know that she's okay with the transition?

My son is two and half now. He has been in a toddler bed for about 1 1/2 years. I started out slowly with it. I left the baby bed in the room to. He would fall asleep for nap time on the couch, or floor. I would move him to the toddler bed. He got used to it. So, I just started putting him in the "big" boy bed every night. Don't get me wrong, many nights I had to carry him from my room back to his room several times. But, it only took a few days, he adjusted, no problem.

My daughter was jus older than 2. By like a month or so.. she could climb out of her crib if she wanted to anyway. I think 2 is a good age for the toddler bed transition.. I dunno about yours, but mine has a bad habit of getting up in the middle ofthe night and wondering the house alone. Its common for 2 year olds so if I were you Id put some kind of noise maker on her door just to prevent it. If you get it early maybe it wont be a habit.. My daughter is almost 3 now and still does it a few times a week. So Good luck with his new bed :)

If she is asking for one, then she's ready. Help her adjust by letting her pick out the bedding and make sure she has a favorite stuffed animal with which to share her new big girl bed.
My son went from a crib to a full size bed with no trouble. He only fell out of bed once.

Yes. If the bed has safety bars. The firsts days will be a little bit difficult but if she's asking for a big girl bed is because she fells she's ready. Try and you will see for yourself. You're baby girl knows what she wants, thats a very important skill to be independent in the future.

I have a 1 year old daughter and she has her own room. She still sleeps with me and it makes me feel comfortable. I think that she will be able to cope with it very well. Just make sure that the toddler bed is low. She'll be fine Mommy. ALso hopefully i'll be able to get my 1 year old out the bed with me.

I think she's ready... I know some who stay in cribs longer but she sounds ready to me.
Go with how you feel. Does she sleep to rough for a toddler bed, or are you worried about her getting hurt... If not, let her have a big girl bed...

If she is asking for it, it sounds like she is ready. I would suggest getting her a toddler bed but placing it up against a wall if possible. This gives them the ability to lay up against it, giving them the security feeling of a crib but the fun of having a "big girl bed". It sounds crazy but it has worked for both of my children. Good Luck

If she wants one, by all means go ahead and get her one. I put a pillow beside my kids for the first little while so they didn't roll off the bed onto the floor. My kids were in big kid beds by the time they were 2. Good luck!
