I am 24wks. pregnant and I just found out about a month or more ago that I have Acid Reflux. The Dr. put me on meds. for it but it seems like the bigger my uterus gets the worse the Acid Reflux gets. I get a terrible tighting in my chest and I begin to cough constantly until I literally throw up. I was wondering if anyone had any sugguestions or home remedies that I can try out that may help. Thanks.

other than watching your diet, drink water, chew gum, sugerfree of course and eat 6 small meals a day instead of 3 big. this will not cure you, but should help reduce the symptoms. Your prenatal vitamins may also be the culprit.

Slippery Elm Bark. To help 'reline; a sore stomach. Extra pillow at night or prop bed head up a few inches. But you are describing a mechanical problem that requires a sensible endoscopic examination to be orderd by your doctor. It is extremely important not to have that acid burning and changing the cells lining your oesophagus. You may indeed have hiatus hernia, you could also have a duodenal ulcer because the stomach will then 'bloat' and hold its food back much longer to give the sore duodenum a chance to heal. Sometimes there can be a bacterial overgrowth that has come up from lower in the intestinal tract. Basically go back to the doctor and hassle them until it is fixed.

Stay away from spicy foods, and caffeine, two worst things for u w/Acid Reflux. I have it pretty bad, and after about 4 days of being on Protonix, I feel much much better...Just gotta eat right... stay away from red sauces ..

Try buying raw organc apple cider vinegar. You take 2 teaspoons mix with water or another drink (I use ice tea) drink it before a meal. Start out just doing it before dinner and if after a few days it doesn't help, try taking before lunch too.
