I have had an itchy scalp for a couple of weeks now and cannot find out why, normally my scalp isn't itchy. The hair oil that I'm currently using isn't helping, does anyone know of a hair oil that helps with this, for ethnic hair?

try kera care's dry scalp shampoo. it has peppermint extractsd to help stimulate growth, and soothes the scalp. i also hear than adding jojoba ol to the scalp, or sunflower oil may help with itching.

Tea Tree Oil has been known to help fight itching...it's a natural antiseptic....You can either by one these shampoos or simply "spike" your own with tea tree oil....it's at any Sally's but a pure version can be found anywhere online..... check From Nature with Love or Camdengrey.com.....

1. Use reputable salon shampoos that fight flaking scalp and itching

Recommendations: Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner or Ex-oil by Nexxus

2. Visit a dermatologist. Inquire of a prescription of a medicated shampoo especially for dandruff.

3. Visit a Trichologist: This is a certified hair and scalp specialists who will help identify the underlying problem. Sometimes meaning a poor diet, changes in body chemistry, health problems, and wrong shampoos.

Avoid heavy hair greases, waxy hair products on scalp. Use light cremes or oils with tea tree oil as an ingredient.

Avoid Cholesterols on the scalp if you have severe flaking.

We both are in the same boat! I am Latina but boy the scalp has been hell. I went to a dermatologist and she prescribed me 2 medicated shampoo and mousse. Worst the insurance don't cover these items but they work extremely well. The doctor told me not to use the same shampoo for a long period of time so I have head and shoulder, selsun blue, T-Sal, regular shampoo, Johnson and Johnson so each week I use different shampoo. Take a look at the ingredients of the dandruff shampoo none is the same, one is coal, another is something else, etc. You will realized they all work different but if you use different shampoo weekly it will help. I think you need to go first to the doctor to see how advance is your itch so it can be treated.

I had the same problem when I went through my tired of everything phase. Its this hair care line called triple silk it works like magic. I use the deep conditioning and it doesn't itch unless my hair is dry. This works for permed unpermed pressed and especially all natural.

You may possibly have something else going on. I would go see a dermatologist to rule out any type of scalp condition.
