Studies have show that daily use of acetaminophen (Tylenol), even within the recommended daily limits, can cause liver damage. The labels all say not to take longer than 7 days withoiut seeing a doctor. If you're taking it for headaches, it can also make matters worse by causing headaches called rebound headaches.

If you are otherwise healthy, the chances of these low doses causing liver or stomach damage is extremely low with tylenol. Ibuprofen on the other hand can cause stomach ulcers even in low doses in sensitive persons.
The recommended maximal dose for tylenol for healthy patients is 3-4 grams a day (6-8 of the 500mg extra-strength ones) for weeks and months. Once you start talking about years I would stay below 2 grams a day to be on the safe side (biggest concern with tylenol: kidney damage).
Regarding the ibuprofen: take it with meals to minimize your ulcer risk. A safer generic (needs prescription) alternative is etodolac which has been shown to cause less gastrointestinal irritation and bleeding.
As always, use the minimum amount that helps you.

Long term use of ibuprofen can cause stomach problems. It also can mess up the platlets in your blood, with this you get little bruises, very small, round, less than a dime in diameter. Also, you should never mix ibuprofen and tylenol. Excess tylenol and you get kidney problems(shutting down)stomach problems, and liver. You should not drink alcohol as well, especially with the ibuprofen.

well ibuprofen can start to shut down ur kidneys and then other organs.
it also can cause your stomach to bleed over the years of using it constantly. Tylenol can cause jaundice..your liver is affected by it and it too can shut down. It can really serious damage you. You could die.
But as long you are under doctors care you should be alright. Also you may want them to check your liver and kidneys out while taking these medicines.

Just one tablet do not make anything of that>>>
what i can say, Tylenol (Paracetamol or Acetaminophen) large long term administration can cause liver cirhosis and not Ibuprofen, And so, large doses of Ibuprofen can cause stomach problems and not Tylenol> just one tablet daily do not cause any of those effects. Notice that take Ibuprofen after meals all the time>

YES.....taking ibuprofin or tylonol can have a long term effect on your liver and your stomach and other parts of your body. Why is it that you're needing to take this everyday? Talk with your doctor to see if there is something else more NATURAL that can help with whatever your problem is that is having you take those pills on a daily basis.
GOODLUCK*

If you mean 500 mg total a day of either (or both), this is a very modest dose. Unless you have other health issue that make you vulnerable to kidney, liver or ulcer problems, these doses should not cause you a problem. Ibuprofen at low doses can on occasion cause ulcers, but it is not common.

Long term use or using excessive amounts of these OTC can cause the problems you mention. Like anything...use it only when needed and in moderation.
Also consider alternating the 2 medications or if you can use aspirin.
