3 meals a day would be the bare minimum.

the reasons why you want to many eat smaller meals during the day:

the human body does not have the storage capacity for many nutrients. eating every 3-4 hours provides the nutrients that the body needs for the many biological processes.

when you eat your metabolism speeds up. your body has to expend energy to metabolize food

despite popular belief the metabolism only decrease slightly while sleeping, 10-15%. it is perfectly fine to eat late at night as long as your pick healthy food items that are low in carbohydrates.

They say to eat 6 small meals a day, keeps your metabolism working to burn off fat.

Every 2hrs would be good to get refueled. (carrot sticks, grapes, oranges, yogurt ...) as well as your main meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner.
ALso...Stop eating after 7pm at night...unless it's fruit or water* It also helps to shed unwanted pounds. Exercise is also a key factor* GoodLUck*

The 3 main meals (breakfast, lunch and supper) would just be fine but a mini meal (a banana or a carrot) in between meals would maintain the level of blood sugar in your body.
