My brother-in law is dating a married woman and I feel like the only person who thinks what he is doing is wrong. He claims that her husband doesn't love her and she is only with him because she can manipulate him. Well we all know that men are not the greatest at expressing their feelings. He has even said those same exact words to me when discussing my husband. I feel that he is violating the sanctity of marriage. What really bothers me the most about this situation is that he can never find a woman that is not married, engaged, dating or living with another man. He is very charming and uses that charm to the fullest. I have even caught him flirting (and I mean serious flirting) with one of my friends who is also engaged. Is it wrong for me to tell him to stop flirting with my friends and to find a girl that is available instead of going around breaking up marriages? Does anyone take marriage seriously anymore?

It really has become an issue for me now because he is living with me and when I have friends over he is constantly flirting with them. I don't think that it is right. I guess my real question is should I tell him to stop flirting with my friends even though they are receptive to his charm or am I crossing the line?

Is it wrong...are you stupid? all signs point to yes. Seriously, do you REALLY need to ask?

Sounds like he only dates people who are married, or otherwise attached, because he thinks that it is the easiest way to get sex without the risk of getting entangled in a relationship. Either that, or he is on some type of insecure ego trip where he only dates "taken" women simply for the challenge.

Why do people bother getting married if they are going to cheat anyway? Doesn't make sense to me.

----edit----
In response to your additional detail, why do you have friends with such low standards that they don't tell him to stop themselves when he does this to them? I assume we are talking about adults here. Where is your friends' husbands when this happens? Doesn't he say anything?

If he is bringing home married women to sleep with, that is a safety issue, since a jealous husband could come looking for him at your place (even if he isn't bringing anyone home, a jealous & armed boyfriend still might come looking for him at your house).

Sounds like you might want to sit down and have a talk about boundaries, and ask him to move out if you cannot agree on where the line should be.

Well ur brother in law seems like an idiot. The women is jsut using him because she can manupulate him. Shes just saying this just to mess around with him because she's probably not getting action at home with her own husband. Just tell him that it's defantly not right and that if he doesnt stop something bad is going to happen and the conciqences are going to be hell.

It is not wrong for you to tell him to stop flirting with your friends. He wants the challenge of getting the married woman if she (the married woman) where to say I'm leaving my husband for you, he would find a reason to break it off with her.

most of the answers here are telling you loud and clear that there is no longer a respect for the sanctity of marriage.I,too would be grossed out by your bro in law...it really is quite sad, what he is doing as well as the whores he chooses to keep company with. One of these days he'll mess with the wrong guys girl and end up in bad shape.or worse, maybe he'll really fall in love with someone and she'll bang around on him.....what goes around ,comes around.

it takes two to tango. if your brother wants to flirt let him, if a girl that's already involved follows his lead then Karma will come and bite them both in the butt. ss for serious relationships I still think that there's people out there that honor marriage but i will admit that they are sure hard to find.
Good luck with your brother.....

After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good that he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral of this story: when you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

Marriage means many different things to many different people. I am certainly in no position to judge or advise but sometimes we have to just let things go, let them work themselves out. Does it really matter to this person what you think? Will it change anything by your worrying about it. Live and let live. This is something that will work itself out for the good or bad.
