I don't know who likes to be called a "girl" perhaps the girls who you speak with... personally I referred to my two daughters as girls as they are "my girls"... as for me.. I am woman... should be addressed accordingly....

I believe a woman always wants to be youthful and the thought of girls night out brings out the fun in a woman. I feel that a woman (well at least myself) is always forced to grow up fast. . .taking care of so many responsibilities and when I think of 'girls night out', I think of freedom, fun and a stress free night where I can act like a girl - free of what the world thinks of me. . .
I have also heard some man having a 'boys night out'. I guess it depends on the person.

To have a Girls Night is to: have fun, be carefree, etc. Women usually are under pressures at work and at home, so to be a girl again, even for one night, is a stress relief. We would call it a boys night, but yeah, they call it: Stag Night or poker night...resistance to being called boys does exist. Probably because deep down they know and embrace the refusal to grow up. LOL

Women are FAR more age conscious than men. Being called a Girl makes them feel young. Men look at being called a "boy" as being referred to as immature and inadequate. Lets face it. Male and Female brains look at the world differently.

I make a distinction between a "girl" and a "woman". And it doesn't have to do with age ... it has to do with maturity. I don't mind things like Girls Nite out or Boys Nite Out ... or "girlfriend" for convenience sakes, but I prefer to be called a woman.

It probably makes them sound and feel old. Plus saying girls night out sounds better than womans night out, it doesn't flow, ya know.
