my mother is coming to visit for 2 or 3 weeks from germany.she has an international/EU driver license. I asked my insurance if she can drive my car but they said no, and I can't buy additional coverage for her....
When I first came here I could even buy my car on an international DL. So, anyhow, does anybody know about if I let my mum drive and she would have an accident - what would happen? AND is there maybe a insurance I could buy an additional coverage for 2 weeks or something?
Thnak you everyone for your help.

Most insurance policies only cover drivers who have a VALID United States Drivers License.

You can always review your policy for their definition of a "covered person". This should be in part A of your policy.

Well, to begin with an international drivers license isn't really a license per se, it's a translation into several languages of your driver's license, and you carry both of them with you when you travel.

Insurance goes with the vehicle, not with the driver, so if your mother has a valid German Driver's License and your permission to drive, she SHOULD be covered. However, since your insurance is saying she can't, I wouldn't take a chance, but I would ask them why not, and if I didn't like the answer, I would probably switch companies.

I would call your agent again and ask them to show you where in the policy it shows that someone with a International license would not be covered while driving your vehicle. Maybe the person you spoke with is new. Not an excuse but it is a possibility.

Switch insurance or let her rent a small car for $20 a day.

She'll need to rent a car, as some, and perhaps most, rental companies will offer rentals to vacationers from other countries.
