I live in Wales and have been apparently 'charged' with affray in the isle of man. I have heard if I don't go back there that they cannot enforce it here as they work under a different jurisdiction. Is this true? Do local police work with the Isle of Man police? Drunken night with no one hurt surely cannot result in a record over here?what wil happen if i dont attend court ?

If what you believe is true then you can never return to the Isle of Man as you shall always be wanted there. If you do return for a court date - The justice will be administered and your fears over. That's if you wish to do the right thing. Even if you are correct and you do not return I am sure criminal records in your area will always show that you are wanted also should you ever desire a more important occupation a record check could deny you a job

The way you phrase your question tends to suggest that you probably do this sort of thing on a regular basis.
You would most certainly "KNOW" if you had been charged as you would have been in a police station with the "charge" read out to you and would have quickly appeared in court unless you were bailed. Again you would have been aware if this had happened to you.
Whilst the Isle of Man has it's own parliament (just like Scotland and Wales etc) it is still part of the British Isles (even if they do get their new car registrations a month earlier)
If you "WERE" charged, don't be a silly billy, GO BACK AND TAKE YOUR MEDICINE.

Not only would you be arrested and charged with breach of bail, you would also still face the charges for your original offence (and now look even guiltier for running away)
You would be locked up on remand until trial, as bail-jumpers are not trusted to answer bail, and if you are arrested in the future (including seperate matters from this) you will also be held on remand as you have a history of absconding.
If what you said is true, and no-one was hurt go to court and look big, you will probably only get a fine or a bind-over, whereas if you jump bail it looks like prison for sure!!!

I am sorry to say you will be charged with contempt of court if you do not appear
.
You will be traced and may be charged ,with the further offence of avoiding justice and wasting police time

. the Law has long arms , reaching, even unto Wales or anywhere.!!!

Don't make a silly offence, into a big crime!!!!
, be straight forward , turn up on the day and apologise ,

Or write to the court and apologise, unreservedly for your behaviour

LOL! Go easy on the drinking binges for a bit

Good luck

Regardless of whether anyone was hurt or not I think you should be a man and attend and take your punishment if there is one to take. Sorry but having been a victim of harmless pranks by drunken 'revellers' it is only fair that you should pay the price should you be found guilty.

Fail to appear and you will be arrested in Wales and taken to the IOM. Once you've been through the court you'll need to find your own way back to Wales. Also....fail to appear and you'll be in contempt of court and will be locked up so take your toothbrush if you choose that option!!!

Affray is a serious offence so I expect something will be arranged.

depends, there's probably an extradition agreement in place between the IOM and England and Wales.

i would have thought if you turn up that will be taken in to account but if you don't you have something to hide and remember the law has a long arm
