That sounds like a cool idea--a lot more elegant than having clumsy teenage guys light the candles (that's usually how I've seen it done). Are you planning to have a traditional type of wedding (inside, with fancy dresses and everything)? I'd use the traditional brass candle lighter things that have the "wick" as well as the bell-shaped thing that puts out the candles. Rather than having the bridesmaids march down the center aisle all at once to light the candles (that might be a bit much), I'd have them split up and come from the sides. That way, it would be a more subtle (subtle = not cheesy), and more of a surprise as well. You could have them light the candles and then remain up at the front, or they could go back down the sides of the aisles and come back for a more "official" entrance later. I'd probably vote for the latter option. I'd also do it right at the beginning of the ceremony, while the atmosphere is still pretty light and people are just beginning to get settled down in their seats. That way, the build-up to the bride's entrance will progress naturally. And just don't give your jr. bridesmaids halos and wings or anything corny like that--just keep them in their dresses--and it will be very elegant, not like a costume parade. :)

That's a good idea--I'll have to remember that for my wedding. :)
Congrats!

Candles are usually lit about 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. I always love this part as it signals that the wedding is about to take place. But when performing the ceremony, I usually miss this part.
Having the jr bridsmaids do this, I think, would be rather elegant & slightly different. And it will give them time to get back to you & in line for the processional.

I see no reason that would make anything look cheesy.
Do you have grown up brides maids too?
Send the Jr. ones out before and send them together. they can walk up and light the candles and then go to their places.
