It really depends on many factors. First of all, how did you give birth, was is vaginally or by C-section? The recovery time on these different methods is very different. The best thing to do is ask your ob/gyn at your six week checkup. They will be able to answer that question better than anyone here. Whatever you decide, it is best to start slow. After my son was born via C-section, I started by walking about 15 minutes a day when he was about three months old. I gradually built that up and lost more weight ending up weighing less afterward then I did when I found out I was pregnant.

Again, most importantly, talk to your doctor and start slowly. Overdoing it in a rush could cause more harm and you don't want that with a new baby in the house.
