Why can't they just do their own thing? Why do they have to try to silence, destroy or censor? Is there something in the message of faith that exposes them, and they can't face themselves so they try desperately to put the light out?

Wallowing in a self-serving, stupefying mysticism, and trying to drag others into it with you, has gotten very tiresome to many other people, and they're beginning to fight back.
How does it feel, Bible-thumper?
Theists have been abusing their freedom of speech for years; as though they owned the streets, and now they think they own this site, which should be used by all to discuss the origin of all matter, and the possibility of a spiritual existence.

The reason we feel threatened by SOME people that profess faith is because the extreme elements of those faiths believe that their dogma needs to apply to everyone.

They tend to be more fanatical in their beliefs particularly the ones who place more importance on the afterlife rather than life itself.

If you want examples of faith out of control you have to go no further than the headlines. MOST people of faith are not like this though.

I'm sure you're pretty cool and I have a lot of friends of different faiths that I feel lucky to know.

What are you talking about?

Where do Atheists try to destroy or silence the personal faith of other people.

Hopefully, you are not referring to enforcement of the Separation of Church and State... because this is not only a simple enforcement of the law, but done for the favour of both the religious and irreligious...

Or would you like to see USA turn into a second Britain?

I'm not threatened by anything. If you ask a quesion I will answer it honestly and if you say something that is offensive I will stand up for myself or my beliefs. Why does any of this matter to you?? And why do christians feel the need to silence, destroy or censor? I do believe it's y'all who are so against gay marriage, stem cell research, pre marital booty, other religions, words, images- everything! So take a good look at your religion and see who's trying to hold who back.

Oh my God are you kidding me? I am pretty sure you should asking this very same question to the Religious instead of the Atheists!!! Religion is pushed down our throats repeatedly.

Have you ever had an agnostic knock on your door? Or had an atheist try and force you to read a science book?

No I believe it is the Religious who need to "just do there own thing",

It's because faith makes absolutely no sense to an atheist. Lack of understanding causes people to feel threatened all the time.

They have said that it was because they wanted to interfere with our ability to brainwash more people into the faith.

Most of us just say what the Bible says, why would that be threatening to them.
What other book would cause them to act that way?

Do they believe that the word of God, all by itself, will convince others to believe in our myth?
We hold our myth to be very sacred.
If it is a myth, they have nothing to be worried about.

Maybe you are right, the darkness does hate the light.

Maybe theoriginal0003 needs to understand that the verses he cited in Revelation were quoted from the Old Testament about the messiah when he sets up his kingdom, and not about Christians.
When Jesus comes back to rule, that verse applies to him.
It's doubtful that you will be around then.

"Why can't they just do their own thing?"

It is when people of faith don't want to let others simply "do their own thing" that they get threatened and defensive. There are those people who believe that because they understand the Word of God, they are justified in telling other people how to run their lives. If everyone, including people of faith, were to simply "do their own thing" the world would be a much better place.

well i'm agnostic and i don't like the feeling that everybody is jamming their beliefs down my throat and saying things like atheists and agnostics are immoral when that's not the case at all and all the talk about the whole world going to hell is kind of annoying as well otherwise i don't have a problem with people being religious just don't impose your beliefs on me and don't try to take away our civil rights as well

Ever hear of the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, burning at the stake, being tortured not only for a lack of faith but for a different faith, etc?

Think that "couldn't happen here"?
