do like my wife and I did. Driving to the Ice cream ask each other, "hey, do you think we should get married? "
Ok, don't do that..
Don't spend money on the proposal keep it simple and special.
Perhaps nice walk to a secluded spot where it is just you her and your Higher Power. Hold her, and ask her. it can be that simple. The more garish you make it everything else you do will be rated against that.

Hello!
I actually run a free marriage proposal ideas website at Marriage-Proposal-Ideas.com (remember the dashes). There are over 100 marriage proposal ideas, and each have the opinion of both a man and a woman for each proposal idea. There are no fees or anything on that site, so feel free to look around.
I'd also be happy to help you customize a proposal (again, no charge) if you wanted to get in touch with me through that site. We've come up with some amazing proposals -- even some that have gotten some good publicity.
Overall, I find that the best ideas are ones that are unique to the two of you where you go the extra mile. Going over past memories the two of you had is a great way to also do this.
Take care,
Brian

What is wrong with getting down on one knee? I don't think doing it in the restaurant is a good idea unless you like the publicity.
But trying to be 'creative' when proposing, is not what it's all about.
And if you need to make it "more special" then maybe you have the wrong girl. Or maybe your ideas towards marriage aren't what they should be.
I do understand that you don't want to be "like everyone else" but what you are about to do is a time-honored tradition. Proposing marrriage should be "special" enough.
You could get someone to sing the proposal while you eat, or you could have it have it lit up on a billboard but nothing will take the place of hearing those words from you, anytime, anyplace.

If you both love each other just your proposal of marriage is going to make her jump for joy.
What I would do is take her to Las Vegas atop the Eiffel Tower at Paris hotel and propose to her when the Bellagio music and fountain show gets started. It truly is an amazingly beautiful sight and I think your wife-to-be will never ever forget that experience.
Frankly I think it is way more romantic than jumping off the plane together or doing other daredevil type events.

Sounds like a good way to be scooping through horse manure looking for a ring, to me. It's a farm. It probably has a porch. Porches have nice breezes. He could install a set of really special hand made wind chimes, and hang the ring from it, so that when she goes for a closer look, she sees a sparkly surprise. Beats waiting two days behind a horse with a shovel.

One of the most common questions spouses ask when confronting a marriage crisis is this: How can I save my marriage if my partner doesn't want to help find a solution? How do I succeed I am trying to save my marriage on my own? Learn here https://tr.im/kuH0p
It is a typical enough story: one partner leaves, the other stays. One remains 'in love', the other is uncertain. Whatever it is that has caused a couple to be apart, the one person who remains bears the prospect, fear, doubt, desire, hope of saving his or her marriage' alone.

Why not rent a private dining room at a good hotel or restaurant. At the end of the evening propose.
Romance means more to a girl that the scoreboard proposals.

This might not help if you are planning real soon, but I was proposed to at the top of a ferris wheel during a local fair. My fiance tipped the man at the bottom (without my seeing) and when we got to the top they stopped and gave him time to propose. We got to the bottom as the line grew and he shouted out "she said yes" as the crowd cheered. For the next 10 minutes the attendant continued to stop the ride at the top for us, and each time we decended the crowd cheerfully chanted. It was an unbelievable high (no pun intended) all during a beautiful sunset!!! Best wishes to you both!!

Just don't do it in a public arena, you know on the Jumbotron at a basketball game or something like that. That puts her on the spot and she will feel that she has to say yes so that she does not embarrass you. After 5 years, I think it is time.
