OK, I truly don't think a courier would do this, and the reason why would be any one who was witness to this would be able to quickly identify this person by 1, the vehicle that they drive, Its always has advertisement on it about the company, and second the outfit they wear. They could be spotted very easy and a witness could without a shadow of a doubt say, it was the courier and identify him / her by those things I just stated.
Now unless the Item states that it needs a signature then they can leave it at a door, or in a hallway. I just received my sleep number bed 2 days ago, paid over $2,000.00 dollars for it and it was left in my hallway.
The next time you order something make certain that you have it posted that it needs a signature this way it will either be left at the post office along with a note, or leave you a note telling you that you missed it and that they will return the next day.
As far as your Fence/ Door. I think maybe someone noticed that this box was dropped off and decided to break the gate, Just being stupid and probably got scared and took off, Or was noticed by a neighbour. Ask around if you live close to others and see if anyone noticed anything.
In all honesty you really cant hold anyone accountable unless you have witness to this act.

Did the parcel have to be signed for. If so the courier is out of order anyway and compensation can be sought as they broke their own guidelines . I would suggest that the situation points to the possibility that the courier in a fit of temper not able to get a signature for the item kicked the door in . Not certain but possible and worth reporting to the police as they are obliged by law to question the courier. PS do not take no for an answer if the local police do nothing write to the Chief Constable or the police ombudsman

A fast and reliable courier service company can assure you to deliver your parcels to destination no matter whatever difficulties or problems arise during transport. With national companies, the package travels and sits in a warehouse floor somewhere until a predetermined time that alerts a worker to find it. Not knowing where the package is when arrival time is critical is stressful. With couriers, there are no worries. Local couriers offer same day delivery within their region and sometimes beyond. This is critical for medical, business, and the occasional last minute gift.

you don't need proof of anything.
you need to call the police and i mean NOW so that an investigator can have a look at the area where the damage was done and see what they make of it.
your approach to the courier company was all wrong.
your's should have been a courtesy call to let them know that you HAD to call the police and report damage and if the courier wanted to come clean maybe this could be avoided, but that if it would take even five minutes, you would have to make the call.
the courier will have to answer questions by the police.
leave it to the professionals.
if it wasn't the courier they'll get to the bottom of it and figure out who did this...

If the Driver had a jemmy and bent your door open, he would have robbed the house and your stupid parcel.
He is not supposed to leave parcels without a signiture and did you a favor.
Most would have stuck a card through your door and you would have to go to the depot for it.
Next time he delivers to your house he will kick the parcel all over and stamp on it before you get it.

Best to make local enquiries to determine whether anybody witnessed this incident. Also report to Police as possible attempted burglary. They may fingerprint the inside of the backyard door. Tell them your suspicions but without any further evidence relating to the courier it is unlikely to go anywhere. Consider improving your security. Venues for burglaries are often revisited by the suspect.

Try visiting some of the neighbours and see if they heard or saw anything. Any CCTV coverage of the area that you could have a look at? Otherwise you aint gonna be able to do anything!

Hi
sorry to sound negative, but unless youve got a witness, youve got no chance of getting any action taken in this day and age. I know how frustrating it is knowing somebody has done something but being unable to prove it

Unfortunately, as you say, it all seems coincidental and you have no proof of who damaged.
Unless any of your neighbours saw anything and are prepared to make statements if you report it to the police.
