I rarely travel over the grapevine and had a quick question. I will be taking a trip in March, does anyone know if during the month of March does it typically snow over the grapevine? Or does it have frequent icy days? Thanks for your help

Going from Bakersfield to San Diego, just f.y.i. I don't know if there are grapevines in other places. Thanks again.

Watch the weather reports, call HWY Patrol, check with AAA. It depends on the actual weather we are having at the time, much like this week. Consider that the Tejon Pass up near Gorman is 4,144 foot elevation. If the front comes across the state west to east with lots of rain down here and colder temps, there is a good chance of snow up there. The weather channel is a pretty accurate way to keep tabs on things as well. Frazier Park is up near Gorman... if there are any reporters on tv speaking to the happenings of Frazier Park and standing in 3 feet of snow, yeah, ya gotta be careful.
But seriously, check the highway line with the Highway patrol, they have road conditions and closures listed on their phone message.

Weather in most parts of California is pretty mild and it seldom snows over the grapevine, maybe once in every year. It's been very cold however and so it could happen if this weather continues, but most unlikely to happen in march.
High winds and fog are very common over the grapevine. If you come over it in the early morning fog be extremely cautious as there have been some pretty nasty pile ups in the past.

It does not typically snow on the Grapevine in March. However, the winds over that particular pass can be quite fierce in March, many times overturning motor homes and large rigs.

I don't know for sure but March ought to be pretty ice free. Early March less so than late March of course.
