My daughter had this surgery. She however had to wait until she was through growing. She had braces for 8 years and they couldn't correct her bite. Plus her upper jaw was to small in comparison to her lower jaw plus her back teeth did not touch to chew.

She had this surgery on her upper jaw and it was the best thing she ever had done. Within 6 weeks after her surgery you would never know she had anything done but she looked amazing. Within one week what small swelling she had was mostly gone but she wore a splint on her teeth to hold her jaw steady like one does if they break a bone elsewhere in their body.

The surgery my daughter said was not painful as the mouth goes temporarily numb and once the feeling returns you are completely healed. My daughter also said that she would do it again in a heart beat because of how amazing her smile is.

You can write to me directly by clicking my name. They have truely improved this surgery compared to years past.

I had mine done twice, the first time I was 19 (doctors wanted to make sure that I was done growing). I had an under bite so they split my upper pallet and moved it forward, then separated my lower jaw about midway and moved it back. They cut the main nerve that went through my jaw so there was not much pain that I can remember, but there was some, until the feeling came back. If you decide to do the surgery be prepared for a long recovery time, it took me three months to eat solid food again. I still have a small spot on my chin that has not regained any feeling so that is something to take into consideration, maybe the procedure for the surgery has improved since I had mine, that's something to talk to the Dr. about. It has improved my facial profile and I don't have as many headaches as I used to have, so it is worth it from that view. Hope I have been helpful.

i have been on your position previously, able very similar, except mine became with my ex female friend and her boyfriend. He cheated on her quite a few cases, she knew, and did not tell everyone, till i eventually were given it out of her. the subsequent time I observed him I chop up his eye. My wager is your sisters likely mad at you, (in the present day) or at in the slightest degree displeased that you took concerns into your own hands? From what you stated it regarded like he thoroughly deserved it, besides the undeniable fact that the reason your sister did not allow you to recognize became likely because she knew you would possibly want to've executed what you probably did, and did not opt for you to. it truly is sturdy that you're protective of her, and to bypass to the quantity of breaking her boyfriend's jaw shows that she'll continually have someone that has her back. for my section, i do not imagine you need to be indignant along with your sister, even besides the undeniable fact that she did not allow you to recognize. the in reality ingredient i imagine you should do at present might want to be attempt to settle down and placed this behind you, she'll understand you probably did it because you care about her, and issues will likely settle. Peace

If the Dentist has recommended it then why question his/her ability to treat your daughter a dentist would not recommend something if they thought it was going to do more damage. At least she is young if you were to have that when you older it may hinder you a bit but i would say just let the doc do his/her job.

If she likes being only able to mumble for a month and enjoys milkshakes for breakfast lunch and dinner, go for it
