Let's face it, Pat Robertson is a false prophet. Even he admits that he gets things wrong and let us not forget that Deutronomy states:

20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death."

21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

Deuteronomy 18:20-22

So, when are you Biblical literalists going to put him to death?

This thread started off as a joke to point out how selective and hypocritical Biblical literalists can be, specifically the ones that condemn people because of Old Testament rules, but do not follow all of the Old Testament rules themselves.

However, now I'm interested as to where in the Bible it says you shouldn't obey the Old Testament Laws. I've heard this case in point many times, and I've even used the argument myself before, only to stop using it when I realised I had no evidence that the Bible said such a thing.

So, where does it say you shouldn't follow the laws of Exodus, Deutronomy and Leviticus?

djs280, well, according to the Old Testament, he's committed one, and when he condemns people he doesn't like, he often quotes sections of the Old Testament.

He hasn't been called home yet - as far as I know. He's still working on a way to blame the homosexuals for the earthquake. There MUST be homosexuals in Japan, just like there were homosexuals in New Orleans, they're obviously the cause of tragedy - not God. But don't worry. Even if Pat "the Rat" Robertson is dead, there's lots of con artists ready to take his place. You'll have all kinds of inspirational people to follow after Robertson has bought the farm. If you did miss Pat's pontification on the Japan tragedy, you likely didn't miss much. If he croaked on camera, you missed even less.

In the Bible it says that in the last days before the Rapture takes place, many false prophets will come in name of Christ and preach to the multitudes. It also says that many will be led astray by the teachings of these people. It goes on to say that these false prophets will exposed by their own lying tongues.

God will deal with Pat Robertson and it is His judgment that Pat Robertson has to fear the most - not man's.

When the bible talks about death it can be spiritual death or physical death. That is in the old testament and that's the law. Its been said an eye for an eye and a tooth for an tooth. God will deal with Pat Rob. The wages of Sin is death...Death..when your walking dead a reprobate knowing what your eternal damnation is going to be. Death as in- when you die you will bust hell wide open and then be cast into the lake of fire with the devil. Or God can just kill him now.but God is so merciful.

Back in the olden days when The people of the Almighty had YHVH for a king things were quite different. Much of scripture was written for that Theocracy. Now that we have King George, and no longer have YHVH for king, we are exhorted to live peaceably under the heathen king we are in captivity under. This means we no longer have the opportunity/duty to try the capital crimes of YHVH. ALL of Scripture is not literal. Merely most of it. And not all of it is applicable to our time. All of the rules about sacrifices were ended at the Cross (or the second destruction of the temple). Many of the rules of Exodus (etc.) had to do with property rights, and criminal statutes, and other "Kingly" laws. It isn't nearly as confusing as you pretend it is. The Almighty has promised that if a person chooses to do His will (to follow the Almighty in truth) they will understand. If you don't understand, I suspect it is because you do not choose to obey. (I don't believe that the Almighty is a liar)

I am astounded by how many people dont know who Pat Robertson is! Are they just answering to take up space?? Pat is a religious broadcaster on CBN. (I included a link for those more interested in stopping ignorant answers.)

But in my overly glorified opinion, Biblical Literalists are too busy gay-bashing and bombing abortion clinics to worry about one of their own putting out prophecies.

But then again, it is up to interpretation if he is really getting things wrong. Many biblical scholars believe that all the prophecies of the bible referred to the times of Babylon...other Christians believe that the prophecies refer to now, so who is to say who gets stoned and who gets glorified?

there is an Old Testament - an eye for an eye (Deuteronomy is old Test.)

and there is a New Testament - turn the other cheek

we are living in the New Testament times after God sent his son to earth to pay for man's sins with his son's blood - THIS IS THE LAW THAT THE WORLD IS UNDER NOW

Well, for one thing, when the New Testament came into play, I believe it says not to really follow what it says in the Old Testament. Also, he hasn't commited a crime, so he can't be put to death.

Pat Robertson is not found in the Bible . . . nor are Christians compelled by the Old Testament Law

He is unimportant . . . we all know he is a bit wacky . . . most those 'preachers' on the 700 Club are nuts!

just move along . . . nothing to see here . . .
