1) Avoid sucrose (table sugar) and replace it with glucose, or some other simple, natural sugar. Definitely avoid artificial sweeteners, as recent studies are revealing serious risks to your health from these products. Throw out ALL junk food, especially sodas.
2) No frying or deep frying anything with fat!
3) Cut off excess fat from meats (some animal fat is healthy) and use less butter (100% vegetable oil is preferred).
4) Increase the use of oils, especially olive oil, banana oil, and vegetable oil.
5) Balance meals using the Food Pyramid and go for fresh foods; "organics" (technically every food is organic) are not more healthy than fresh produce, but the consumption of preservatives (common in canned food) is definitely not healthy.
6) Increase the frequency while decreasing the size of meals through out the day for less physical stress and greater moderation.

Alot of companies are now making products that are lower in fat. Campbells soup makes 98% fat free soups now. Use 1% milk instead of 2% or Vitamin D. Use Turkey bacon or sausage instead of Beef. Try looking through the Weight Watchers website. They have a ton of recipes you can get without being a member. The meals are really good and very filling and theyre not much different from regular foods.

Substitutions!
Fake butter for real butter (and never use margarine because it's partially hydrogenated), and lessen the amount you use.
Ground turkey for ground beef.
1% milk for whole milk.
Check out www.hungry-girl.com. They have excellent recipes.
