I'm considering buying a joint support supplement to help me for the next few weeks while i recover from having terrible runner's knee. Any suggestions on a product or brand? Has this worked for you?

Glucosamine (and Chondroitin) are the general over the counter supplement to help with joint problems.

They come in both liquid and pill form although from what I've heard liquid goes into affect more rapidly. Look into Parker Taft for the pill form as that's what I used to use when I had some pain due to running too much.

i'm kind of wary of supplements, they seem more for the crystal wearing hippie demographic, and i am a birkenstock wearing hippie. i've been running for about 9 years and i've never heard the term "runners knee', but i think your problem is in your stride. if you move your hips side to side while you run, this is putting pressure on the muscles on the outsides of your knee. next time you go running, focus on how what your hips are doing and try to tuck your pelvis directly under you.

RRSS,

The herbals don't work that quickly. My Dad took chondritin and he said, while it works, it takes a few months.

When I had runner's knee my ligaments were inflammed (due to using the wrong shoes). I took Motrin to reduce the swelling. That worked, in addition to getting the right shoes.
