I am a 25yr old female and I always seem to strain my right hamstring when I work out. I don't work out consistantly and that may be part of my problem.

Either way, I always strain my hamstring by lifting weights or on the Eliptical.

When will it stop! How can I stop pulling that muscle?
Is it ok to keep working out if there is minor pain in my hamstring?

It is probably not the best to keep working out that muscle until it feels a little better. If it hurts you, you don't want to tear it, because that DOES NOT feel good at all. You need to stretch out before your workouts so you don't hurt yourself. Try walking a tredmill for about 30 min before you do your elliptical. Your muscles need to warm up before they stretch. If you don't warm them up, they are not as flexible and that is why people, and your self get hurt. Just stay off of it for a bit and warm it in a bath tub or hot tub and then when your ready, get back on it and warm up and start slow!!! Good luck and I hope it feels better soon!

There is no general answer. It depends if the bone or the tendon is involved in the injury. Best would be to check it with a doctor. If the injury is severe you should NOT continue with the workout and get physiotherapy and proper treatment.
As a prevention you should, once the injury is proper diagnosed and treated focus on stretching the hamstring.

your hamstring could be torn so you will have to rest it or just do light exercise and get support for it like them thing you see footballers wear. stretch before and after exercise to prevent it happening again. if it continues to happen even with stretching properly talk to a doctor

Work out every other day and wrap a magnet on the pain.
Keep working out.
