Apparently a Victorian couple, Mr & Mrs Bone, called their daughter Norah - poor kid.
Also, I work in hospital and many elderly ladies are called Ina: Williamina, Thomasina, Henryina, Peterina etc. It sounds like the parents hadn't wanted a girl so gave the poor child a boy's name with "ina" on the end. It was popular in the 1920's.

Kids are cruel, they will find a way to make fun no matter what. I went to school with a guy by the name of Ron Moore who was a little slow. All the kids got a great laugh whenever the teacher read the roll for attendance: Moore, Ron!

I remember reading about a woman who had seen this word and thought it would be a beautiful name if she should have a daughter. In time, she did have a daughter-and promptly named her Chlamydia! There was a threatened court case-but unfortunately,it didn't go through as they can't legally force someone to re-name their child.
Poor little girl!!!
At school,I knew a Korean guy named Phuc Phan-it used to crack us up when the teacher called his name!

I went to uni with a guy called "David Davids" - his standard reply was always "My name is David Davids, but call me Alex" - his middle name I think.
Also my 6 month old son is called Mani. However, my husband actually wanted to call him Sony Nintendo to symbolise that we belong to the digital age. We compromised on Mani! He is saving Sony Nintendo for if we have another boy. If we have a girl in the future he wants to call her Juice.
PS. I'm really not joking - this is what I have to put up with!
