Judiasm, Christianity and Islam originated in the Middle East and they all use Middle Eastern animals and plants for god and spiritual images: lions, eagles, sheep, lamb, desert places, etc.e etc. Eskimo religion in the Arctic uses polar animals and plants etc. religious images.
Hindu religion uses plants and animal god & spiritualimages found in India.
African religions use stuff from their environment to portray spiritual and religous themes. Same for all other indigenous religions all over the world.
RELIGION IS ENVIRONMENTALLY DETERMINED!

Using natural things to describe spiritual things is just a way of teaching. Why would you not use things that are common to the people you are speaking too? When you tell children a story you try to relate to them with things they understand. This doesn't change the truth of what you are teaching.

Religion is a process of divine Revelation from God to humankind. This message is adapted to the comprehension of the intended audience. Of course, if God sends a message to Middle Eastern people, He would use Middle Eastern imagery. Of course, if God wants to communicate with humankind, He would send human beings as Messengers, Prophets, etc. It is logical.
