Many of you think that free will is such a valued and important thing to god that he allows evil in order to let you have it. If it is such an important thing to have, then why don't you have it in heaven where things are supposed to be perfect?

For those of you that pick heaven: Why do we need evil then since free will is obviously not good enough for heaven?

MtnMan: Do you believe that evil is necessary for free will? If you do, and there is free will in heaven, there must also be evil in heaven. Take a day or two to understand the logic.....

.....and we're back. Now that you understand, you have two choices if you think evil is needed for free will: 1) there is evil in heaven 2) There is no free will in heaven. Which is it?

If you don't think evil is needed for free will, then tell me why evil exists.

Oh Steve, I'm sorry I need to get here earlier to help you through these clashes of stimuli, obviously from your last question, some of them have collided. It's okay though, the entertainment value of your output is getting a little better.

Input: There is free will in heaven. Stop. Process. Try again.

For the others, we have to be Careful with Steve, he is a unique specimen of considerable humor but little intelligence, but that is to be expected of one that claims to have no control over thought or action. Think of it this way, while he has little to contribute of any value, it is kinda fun to watch him roll around on the floor and slobber.

We love ya Steve! keep it up.

You still have free will in heaven. You can choose to fall.

Now the big question is -- and this requires a stretch of the imagination -- if Heaven is a wonderful place, if everyone there is good, kind, there is no war, violence, hatred, bigotry, then WHY would you choose to leave it.

And if your exercise of free will go contrary to the peaceful order of things, then are you GOOD or EVIL.

It happens; or it does not happen. And certainly it does not happen if we try to force it upon ourselves, just as it shall not happen so long as we think, in our self-complacency, that we have no need of it. Grace strikes us when we are in great pain and restlessness. It strikes us when we walk through the dark valley of a meaningless and empty life. It strikes us when we feel that our separation is deeper than usual, because we have violated another life, a life which we loved, or from which we were estranged. It strikes us when our disgust for our own being, our indifference, our weakness, our hostility, and our lack of direction and composure have become intolerable to us. It strikes us when, year after year, the longed-for perfection of life does not appear, when the old compulsions reign within us as they have for decades, when despair destroys all joy and courage. Sometimes at that moment a wave of light breaks into our darkness, and it is as though a voice were saying: "You are accepted. You are accepted, accepted by that which is greater than you, and the name of which you do not know. Do not ask for the name now; perhaps you will find it later. Do not try to do anything now; perhaps later you will do much. Do not seek for anything; do not perform anything; do not intend anything. Simply accept the fact that you are accepted!" If that happens to us, we experience grace After such an experience we may not be better than before, and we may not believe more than before. But everything is transformed. In that moment, grace conquers sin, and reconciliation bridges the gulf of estrangement. And nothing is demanded of this experience, no religious or moral or intellectual presupposition, nothing but acceptance.
