I worked for several years at a hospital, I've seen and heard it. My neighbor is a paramedic, he has heard it. My brother is in law enforcement we have discussed this plenty. When people are in trouble or dying it's nearly always...God HELP ME.

they are afraid of the unknown, especially if they don't know where they're headed. it makes sense. I know where I am headed because I have chosen to believe In Jesus as my Savior, but I can only imagine how scary it would be not to have any idea about what's next. This life is so temporary, eternity awaits us and we choose where to spend eternity. I will be with the Lord, my older son who already died & many other wonderful believers who have gone before me. Did you know that Alice Cooper is a believer and Sylvester Stallone? check it out. Then YOU can be sure where you will spend eternity. :) I hope you will be with us.

I was an EMT for two years, and worked in a hospital two years before that.

While it is not true for most cases, there are enough of them to make you wonder.

It is true that a lot of folks, even those without a professed faith in God, will call out to Him in crisis, whether it be death, or serious illness or injury.

I believe that this is because the Scripture is true: "...He has also set eternity in the hearts of men..." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

When people realize that their true comfort can come from Him, or that they are about to face Him, they come to Him.

Is this something that you have heard some place, or are you stating this from personal experience?

If you had done a little research you would have found that the number one thing that people do when they are dying is to call out to their mother. Out of all the names for mother " mommy "
is the number one that is used. Even though their mother might have been gone for years, the majority of elderly even do this.

Apparently you are a Christian that is trying to deceive people into believing that in the end even those that were not believers during their lives will finally admit to the existence of your god.

Nice try,but no cigar.

I am a priest and I have been in some situations where I was the last one to talk to the person before they died. Usually these people are always Christians or believers of any religion. It is true that at death, people let their guard down. Many people do not believe God for some reason or rather, usually it is due to some personal subjective reasons. Many atheist claim to have an intellectual argument for not believing in God but they usually search for a reason for not believing in God because some personal tiff they have with God. However, at death, their arguments and reasoning seem futile in the face of the unknown. At death, we also realize that we are complex beings. We are people with memories and reason and feelings, in other words, we are real individuals and it is hard to imagine that this individual would just disappear into nothingness at death. This is why at the last moment of life, people cry out to the only person they believe that can give them hope for their existence after life in this world. People instinctively know that they might find hope in God if they cry out to Him, and I believe that God is merciful and just to listen to the sincere cries of these people before their death. God does not delight in the destruction of souls but He is merciful, compassionate and kind. We may not understand His ways always but we know in our hearts that He is a loving God. I hope this answer helps you. God bless.

Because deep down no matter how much they proclaim that there is no God or they need no God, they know he is real and he is there only hope. I wish people wouldn't wait till they are dying but better late than never.

I think, deep down, most people know who has the power to help them.

I also heard that after Pearl Harbor was attacked that many of the injured and dying called out for their mothers.

May I ask where you found the statistics on that? Could you put them in the details at the bottom of the question?

Because of the Mercy of God they are called ? No man can come to God lest God call him to come. God in His infinite wisdom knows how and when to call.

They fear what happens after death. They feel that God will somehow overlook the things they did wrong in their lives and usher them into heaven. They are sadly mistaken.
