Seeing this man brings feelings although there is little to no possibility of acting on these feelings (not lust or idolization, but comfort and completeness). I feel incomplete when he is not around. What can I do to change my feelings and help me go through life?

Wow, I love the twist in the question. The question was...how do I make the feelings go away? I wasn't asking if I should stay with him or leave him or what not. I already decided. I am moving cross country, and I have known this man for more than a decade (it is impossible to just 'forget'). Also, I have tried being in relationships with other guys, but the feeling for THIS man still don't go away. I want to stress that it is NOT a feeling of lust or idolization. And when I state that I feel incomplete, it is not to say that I can not function without him or I am obsessed. It is the feeling of this is right, this is who I am.

I am not dependant on him. I can go without seeing him for months and I don't fall apart. But I still HAVE these feelings.

Find someone you can be with.
I was so hung up on my high school sweetheart. After her parents found out some things she and I had been doing, they kept us from seeing each other. We eventually found other partners and I got married. Two years later, my wife left me. My high school sweetheart and I eventually got back together and were two months away from getting married when she decided that she wanted to be with someone else. It was a blessing in disguise. She turned into a skank and I met my current wife, who is so much better.

The bottom line is, no matter how much you love someone, if the circumstances aren't right, then move on and find someone else.

In a world of fish, you'll find your big bass one day. Good Luck!!!

If there is any hope that you will end up back together at some point just look forward to that, otherwise, all I can tell you is it get's easier with time, and I know that doesn't mean much at the moment, but it is the truth. Hope you feel better soon.

time will ease all pain. if your not in love with him it will be easier if you are in love - it may take longer but there is nothing you can really do to change the way you feel or make your feelings go away - believe me ive tried. just try moving on, staying busy and meeting new people. hopefully this will help

You are in a dependent state for an individual. What if he moves far away or dies? Seek other sources of comfort as well. If you lose access to him, your sense of loss will be much greater since there is no one to turn to.

Mind is the greatest part of we human being. It controls all other aspect of our existence, it differentiate us from all other animals. But you have power over your mind. So believe the man is with you even when he is not around.

This is all too simple to fix.

Just find someone else that makes you feel the same way if not better. there are way way too many guys out there to be stifled with this one guy you just have to get out there and find them.

I think you shouldnt see him anymore. By you keep seeing him you are just tearing the scab off of the sore everytime. If you stop seeing him, in time your wounds will heal, but if you keep re-opening the wound, it will stay fresh.
