I am looking to use it to quit smoking and my doctor has suggested it but after reading on what kinds of patients they use it on and what it was originally intended for, I'm hesitant that it might make me a completely different person.

Welbutrin, to my understanding, is a pretty significant mood altering drug...I think you're right to be hesitant to use it to quit smoking...studies of it have shown some negative side effects that you might not want to risk.

Welbutrin is used as an antideprressent in the treatment of depression, but it was found to aid in smoking cessation.

It can help in certain depressions, but really doesn't affect normal people except to take away there desire to smoke.

My advise, is give it a try, smoking will be far more damaging to your health than this. It should only take a month or two, you won't be taking it for life

Not in the least. My wife said she felt the effects, but I really didn't feel/sense anything different.

I used it (with no success) and it made me sleep and quiet. Just really laid back and blah for the most part.
