I need help to quit. Please share your stories and suggestions with me. Did you quit cold turkey? Use patches or gum? Are there any online support groups that might help? Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

smoke away worked for me, but different people have different things that work for them - however, if you don't truly want to quit, it will be a struggle. if you really DO want to quit, it will be much easier

as well, smokeaway has a forum that most of the regulars didn't quit using the product, only some of them did - they're full of knowledge, and helped me quit - [http://www.smokeawaysupport.com/ ]

one thing that's helpful is to drink a few glasses of cranberry juice a day - the vitamin C is always good for helping clean your body, the juice helps maintain the first three days of eratic blood sugars, and the tart flavor gets rid of cravings. also, a glass of water can actually soothe a craving
--------
also, one of the most difficult ways [on your body] to quit is by cutting down to fewer cigarettes a day - what that does is actually makes you look forward to cigarette #2 of the day. and then there's a false sense of torture that your mind creates waiting for cig #2. quitting by cutting down to any number of cigarettes a day is a set up for failure

I smoked for a very long time and quit cold turkey, with a twist. For about 6 months leading up to it, I kept telling myself and everyone else, I'm quitting smoking on July 4. When that day approached, I said, this is my last cigarette, smoked it, and that was it. That was about 6 years ago, and I smoked 2 cigarettes 2 years ago (I was drunk) and I've been otherwise free of it since.

I still sometimes wish I smoked (like a long car trip), but I don't crave cigarettes. I love being around people who smoke-I like the smell (I know, weird) but I no longer would actually smoke one.

My mom quit with the assistance of a quitters hotline setup by the state of PA. They called her with support periodically and sent her some info. Your state may have such a program.

Good luck. I don't think there's anything more important for your health than not smoking.

I quit cold turkey, didn't use patches or gum. I just quit. Every time I wanted a cigarette I would just think about how much money I was saving or go love on my cat. The first week i s the hardest, especially the first 3 days. Good luck!!

I quit cold turkey 7 years ago. All you have to do is throw them away and stop buying them.
Take up a hobby to do with your hands instead of smoking.
The patches and gum don't really work, sorry.
It just takes will power.

i quit by using a 14 mg the first, day, a 7 mg patch the second day, then the third day i had nothing and it went very smoothly. i have not cheated once, and do not have cravings for them. i have also used patches and wellbutrin before, but struggled. once you decide that you are really sick of paying for something that kills you and makes you stinky and wrinkled you will quit. i have gained 15 lbs since quitting because it makes your metabolism tank, so be ready for that. also, you can encourage yourself by saving the money you would have paid for cigarettes. each day put 3-4 dollars in a jar and watch your savings grow. i have also heard that fruit juice tricks nicotine receptors and gets rid of cravings. good luck.

Cut your self down to two cigs a day and if you do get a craving chew gum or eat candy.
