I think that most pedophiles would have a conscious. They know that they are doing wrong.
Hitler and the KKK are just ignorant idiots. Enough said.

The KKK are just nuts. They collectively suffer from low self-esteem, making them lash out at the world in a vain effort to feel better. Dressing up in their pretty satin dresses and funny gnome hats doesn't seem to be the solution to an identity crisis. They hide behind Christianity to justify their bigotry. Bigots rarely feel good about themselves.
Hitler was a different animal altogether. The guy was a Freudian wet dream, given his mother-obsession, and his alleged predilection for young girls. He did believe he was doing good, but I think the 30 million people he is responsible for destroying would probably disagree.

Actually, I think this is an important question...particularly for parents. The people who do these awful things aren't movie monsters. They have careers and families, they laugh and cry, people think they are nice, etc...
You can't tell a murderer or a pedophile by looking at them. Even if they live next door to you and you've never noticed anything "weird". If all serial killers were monsters, obviously they'd never succeed in luring their victims to their deaths. But they don't look like monsters: They look like everybody else.
And yes, they probably think they are "good" people with a problem.

I don't believe they have the ability to discern right from wrong, so in their eyes they are doing things for the greater good of humanity. As for pedophiles, I think they realize that they are wrong to do this on a subconscious level, but they are unaware of that knowledge. That's why they are rarely, if ever, reformed.

Dale Carnigie wrote about an interview with John Dillinger.
John thought he was a kind person who would no harm to anyone. (After many famous machine-gun fights and gang-land slayings in the streets).

Yes, I think they believe what they are doing is for the greater good.
That is why religious zealotry is so frightening -- they all believe that are working for the greater good, yet harm often comes to *some* by their actions.

Its not surprising. Even liberals think good of themselves so I suppose pretty much anyone can. Most evil people cannot see that they themselves are evil. They think what they are doing is good or at least acceptable. Therefore, even though liberals are evil, they themselves believe they are doing good.

I am sure some do, just as I am sure that many "good Christians" don't.
