What I tell my student is that a conclusion should be a statement of what has been learnt on the basis of the evidence presented in the essay. That is, it should not be a summary of what you have already said but should, as the name suggests, genuinely draw a conclusion. (Though at all costs avoid using "in conclusion".) Think of it this way, what is it that you can now say that you could not have said before presenting all the information in the body of the essay? Also, leave the reader with something to think about, perhaps by suggesting the broader significance of what you have been discussing in the essay or by suggesting a possibility raised, but not proven, by your evidence.
Good luck.

It depends on the topic, but NEVER conclude with "As you can see . . ." that's insulting. If the topic permits, give your opinion (if the teacher will accept first person point of view in your essay). You could give an example from history or a personal anecdote to reiterate your point. Relate it to a movie, TV show, or song lyrics. Be original and creative.
