How many people out here realize that its DEADBEAT parents (male and female) who are the reason for most welfare cases? the state and federal government are tired of parents not paying for thier children, so they passed more strict laws. When the deadbeat is finally caught, it is THEY who have to repay the welfare, ALL of it.
WHY DONT PEOPLE OUT HERE KNOW THIS? How many out here do know it?

i didnt say people on welfare are deadbeats, i SAID its the deadbeat parents (those who dont pay child support) are the reason women are forced on welfare.
states know it, federal gov knows it and passed stronger laws because of it.

The deadbeat parent will SUFFER the HUGEST loss. Money is nothing compared to the punishment that person will feel at some point in their life.
A lot of people on welfare are TOO depressed to seek self improvement. THAT is the biggest problem.
Just look at the attitudes in this post? Imagine knowing that most of the world think of YOU as a lowlife? Add abuse you have probably suffered, humiliation at people SNUBBING you... on and on.
The answer is an out reach to those that need a boost emotionally so that THEY KNOW they are worthy and capable of helping themselves.

Have you never been down on your luck? Have you never been injured and couldn't work? Have you ever been raped and gotten pregnant and had to figure out how to feed that child because your rapest is not around? These are real scenarios regarding people on welfare too. Not everyone is a deadbeat parent. Not everyone can help their own situation. You are judging welfare recipients as if they were all the same! They are not. So unless you have walked a block in their shoes, who are you to judge anyone?

You are absolutely correct! Even though I have been working since I was 14, I wasn't financially ready for a child 2 years ago. Not only that, the "man" I was in a relationship w/ for 7 years walked out & has never looked back. My company shut down & filed for bankruptcy & never payed their employees.
Here I was w/ just enough money to cover my rent for ONLY 5 months. Every time I went on a job interview the first thing they would see was my little belly & a nice, "we'll call you" would follow. It was horrible! Once my son was born, I applied for public assistance (not my proudest moment, but I had to). 10 months later I got back on my feet and HAPPILY closed my case.
He finally just started paying & most of that money is going towards welfare. That's just how things are! These deadbeats need to step up & do the right thing from the get-go but you've got idiots roaming this earth taking advantage of anything they can get their hands on.

I don't believe it's only "deadbeats" on public assistance as you say. It may surprise you but an alarming amount of our military families are on public assistance. If you are an E-4 and below in many areas you can not support your family. With the rising costs of childcare often a second income just doesn't cut it.
It is true that the application process is a bit thougher. It is also true that if a parent is not paying childsupport that has been mandated by the courts and public assistance costs are incurred the costs will be collected from the party who was not paying childsupport as mandated. It is also true that single family homes are more likely to collect public assistance.
However, when a responsible party is requested to pay back public assistance costs it doesn't necessarily mean it will be for the full amount. Of course the full amount is sought after but rarely is the goverment able to reclaim those funds.

Hey there is someone on here that actually (A) Knows how to read, and (B) actually read the whole question before answering it. I agree with you totally that non-paying parents are the reason for LOTS of people being on welfare...but I also know that when I got pregnant this time I had JUST gotten laid off (was preg but didn't know it yet) and the second I went to apply for benefits (medicaid) for myself and my children the prosecuting attorney for Friend of the Court was right on it making sure that my kids' dad was paying child support. My older 2 children have the same father and he and I were together for 10 years...when we split it was amicable and we didn't see the need to get Friend of Court involved so he has just been giving me support money for 6 years now...but now they're insisting it go through thesystem just so THEY know it's getting paid...so they do contact F.O.C. as soon as you qualify for benefits...

My son's dad split when I got pregnant..If I had not been on state assistance, I never would have gotten a dime from him... It's amazing how the govt can find them when they owe MEdicaid back but can't locate them just to get me justice.. My son's father said "it's the govts responsibility to care for the baby..not mine".. He found out that he had to repay the state.. He was ordered to pay $25.00 a week support.. I couldn't raise a child on that..He kept working for cash under the table UNTIL they passed the new law that he would lose his licenses if he didn't. He's getting women pregnant right and left and I got so little support because he had other kids..

I agree.....Deadbeats that don't pay for their child's upbringing are making the parent with custody pay for everything by themselves, which is near impossible to do. That's why they need help from the government.......Basically the government pays for all the doctors' visits, food, schooling, and all the things that the Deadbeat isn't paying. I support the law that makes them pay all of it back....after all, IF YOU CAN'T FEED THEM, DON'T BREED THEM!!!!

Sometimes also child support is SOOO expensive that you can't afford anything else and NEED the governments help. And in Illinois we are required to pay family health insurance for my husbands other kids and at some companies it is so expensive that you just can't afford anything else. We had to move in with family because the health insurance and child support is too much for us to even live on our own.
