Okay, I am pregnant and curious.... My step dad has not brushed his teeth in 20 years!!!!! Yeah... gross I know... but his teeth are pretty much just gone, black! I was wondering if this can kill him, or if he may get some disease which can be contagious to my baby. Also, when my baby comes, how can I tell him nicley not to kiss on my baby or feed him out of his bowl?

there is really no polite way ...just be direct and ask him not to feed your child from his plate or utensils....your baby will have a very low immune system and can't fight off infections and diseases like an adult...
yes it can kill him...bad oral hygiene is the leading cause of heart disease..the bacteria gets in his gums hitchhikes through his bloodstream to his heart causing an infection...he needs to see a dentist

You are never supposed to put something thats been in your mouth in a baby's mouth. Bacteria from your mouth can get into your babies mouth. Read it in What to Expect the First Year. Your not supposed to clean their pacifier with your mouth either. Just set an example for your step dad. Show him that you don't feed your baby out of you bowl so no one else should either and explain why.

oh damn he needs a dentist most likely he's got an infection and will need them taken out after 20 years of not washing. if he has an infection it can cause him to get very sick. but no its not contagious. its disguisting but should not affect your baby. i would advise you not to say anything about not kissing baby will really hurt him. if you dont want to feed him out of his bowl get a plastic one and tell him you want the baby to have his food out of this one so as it wont break. drop hints about going to a dentist or just tell him directly that he needs to go to the dentist as your concerned about his health as you heard that it could affect his health or something. good luck with it.

oh my gosh! gross indeed. does he have something against the tooth brush or the paste? I would seriously freak out if he tries to feed my child from the same bowl or utensils. be nice but if he tries to feed the child from his bowl or with his utensils, tell him the truth. maybe he'll think twice about his dirty mouth and mabey he'll do something about it. tell him if he washes his mouth, thats all you're asking for, you'll let him hang out with your child.

tell him to brush his teeth, its worth the try. isnt it?
and i would suggest to feed ur baby before he does coz its better to be advance!

btw it wont kill the baby just wash its mouth as soon as possible but dont let ur father see u coz he might know that ur afraid of him by infecting ur child.

yes i heard of that disease if a man with bad teeth kisses a baby it will have bad luck for 5 years.also his tongue might fall out next so becareful.

xplain to him what u think about his teeth politely he may understand and yes decayed teeth cause many diseases which are contagious

Ouch that's a tough one. Can't you just tell him he needs to see a dentist? His mouth is probably filled with bacteria.
