Well, to the Buddhist, the after life is the next life. Therefore, they meditate, do good deeds so as to build up Karma, the same way Christians pray and do good deeds to build up a good repertoire with God and Jesus.
That they have no official opinion on God or Jesus and have a different opinion to you as to what is after life, means nothing. The means is exactly the same.

Ignoring this life in favor of the faint possibility of another life after death is like going to a circus, keeping your eyes closed, and hoping for your money back.

Buddhism doesn't focus on an afterlife only on the need to live this one to the best of your abilities.

I am sorry for myself. I made some bad choices and I am going through the punishments.
What goes around comes around.

You poor dear. You should really say something. Don't let them get away with that. You should force a change. Yep.
